Return to ER requested, so we are back

In the morning on Saturday, the ER attending requested that we come back for evaluation. He said that some of the blood cultures they did found one of them growing bacteria. And they were concerned if he has a bacterial infection his blood, it could go really wrong quickly. So we came back and hung out on the ER parking lot curb for a couple hours. And then back in an ER room with a new IV, more blood cultures and a bit less chaos then the day before. But luckily by 8 o'clock we were upstairs admitted for the night. Still no details and they started the horrible vancomycin, on top of another nasty antiobiotic. This is the one thing he's allergic to but, not severely. He just gets red man syndrome, which he did They needed to give him Benadryl, which they did but not prophylactically as was ordered. It was lost in the transfer from the ER to the Peds Floor. I thought about it but just spaced in the commotion until he started glowing red and scratching his head as if a team of lice just began their vacation in his fabulous head of hair. The stuff is so nasty. I'm gonna have to rebuild his gut biome because it's currently being thrashed ans trashed. No sleep for mom but he probably got a spotty five hours. Of course the midnight and 4 AM vitals did not go smoothly. And when you're in the hospital with an IV of nastiness coming through your veins and, you wake up to someone trying to do your blood pressure at four in the morning and you request "red case"... you get it. The rules go out the door in the hospital. We'll see if the notes are updated in the next few hours and what they say when they round. Just waiting for those culture results. We still don't know why the weird seizure like activity happened but hopefully we'll have some answers later this morning.
