Started all of these things in the past month. I usually don't like to do more than one thing at a time. NAET is a very "woo, woo" way of dealing with allergies. I'll explain it another time but so far, the doctor has "cleared" him from: Brain mix, Egg mix, Vitamin C, Sugars and Vitamin A. The next to work on are: Sodium, Grains, Yeast, Base Digestive fluids in the small intestine, Plastics and then we will work on the main foods he eats that might not have been covered by these.
His major face rash is almost gone. Other than that, I can't tell if it's doing anything. But she also works with children with autism to help relieve some of their symptoms. We will see. Dr. Phillips was highly recommended by my favorite doctor Dr. Gill. I was about to do the rotation diet with him, which I would end up totally overwhelmed with I know. So this was offered as an alternative. She feels it works 85% of the time.
Onto the Pediatric Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (PAOM). After being sick a few weeks ago, he couldn't get rid of his cough. Taking him to his pediatrician, she felt he might be getting a sinus and ear infection so she prescribed antibiotic. She knows how I feel about this so she said I could try to get rid of it with a major amount of saline for a couple days before I started him. And for me, unless he's really seeming sick and it's something that is truly needing them, I have a very hard time believing they are needed. He seems totally fine but had this cough that would keep him up at night. In fact I was sleeping with him for a week to help him during his coughing bouts. I'd give him a puff of Xopenex or, if really bad, a treatment in the middle of the night. But other than the nights and mornings, and an occasional mid-day cough, he seemed fine. But it wasn't getting better.
He's been on so many antibiotics over his short lifetime, I really am afraid if he every really needs them they won't work. And I know how it rips his digestive system up taking them. We really get back to square one again when he gets off of them, trying to build up the good bacteria that has been blasted out of his body through his diarrhea. TMI I know ;) But I had to do something. Mike totally supports me, really with all of my decisions where it relates to the kids and especially Ian's care. But we kept talking about it, because it's so painful to see and hear him struggle with these coughs.
So I asked a long time acquaintance to help him. It's someone I have known through the MOMs Club and now our amazing MOMs FB group, who practices PAOM. And I love her approach. I know, so many doctors, who to listen to. But they all have bits and pieces that work for him. And at this point, I need them all for different reasons. She did some cupping on him. Which was freaky but so interesting. I did research on it and it makes sense. And she's having me do some stimulation of his back, stomach, arms and legs. Simple and interesting. Taking a spoon and lightly rubbing it in a circle on his stomach followed by my fingers. And doing the same thing down his legs and arms. Taking the edge of a smooth rock and rubbing it, with more pressure, across the top of his back, near his scapula. And down both sides of his spine, to stimulate his spinal fluid and balance all of his senses out. Awaken them and balance them.
We will see. I can not give enough to this sweet boy. He's remarkable and shows me every day that it's all so worth it. He's thriving and so happy!
