Ian's alphabet

Tonight, in the bath, Ian helped me build the whole alphabet on the wall. I would be looking for/ask for the correct letter and he would find it. He found every single letter in order. And by the time we were half way through it he was even trying to put them up on the wall for me. Just amazing! We also did 0-5 but then I turned on the light to take the pic and that light has a fan which distracted him.

In the late afternoon I took him to the YMCA for free swim in the training pool. He's definitely not as comfortable in the water as he used to be but after 15 minutes of singing and trying to get him to relax, he was okay. We stayed in for about 45 min in which time I got him on his back a couple times, got him to float for quite a while, of course I was holding him under the arms, and he occasionally attempted to kick. I tried to sign up for a swim class for Lila at the same time there was a parent/child swim with Ian but it was full for the next 6 weeks. I'll get them in the next one and we'll see how he does.

While we were in I sang "Old MacDonald  about 50 times. And I was trying to work the E I E I O so that when he would make sounds at me, he would sometimes say E or something like it while I paused the song at that point. It wasn't perfect but it was a definite start. Got me excited!

We saw our pediatrician this morning for a look at his ear infection, which had gotten better. And she had looked at the video and feels it's night terrors. If it was hypoglycemic she says it wouldn't only have happened twice with a few weeks in between.

She ordered a glucose test anyway just to be sure. I thought she might so I had him fast before the appt and we headed over to UCLA to get the draw. Which took forever, very busy and short handed there. But the girl got it on the first try. Strangely enough the guy who helped hold him was a friend of mine's brother. Hadn't seen him in a very long time and he happened to walk in when we were being brought back. He was really good with him.

Strange how it happens whenever I go to UCLA I run into people who we used to deal with. A friend is admitted with her son and I was bringing her a little treat and ran into our prior cardiologist, Dr. Satou, in the hall. Then heading back down in the elevator we were riding with his original neurologist, Dr. Sankar. They were both happy to see Ian and it was nice to say hi... but just so interesting the timing.
