Ian is finally really getting better. It must have been time with his Daddy that pushed him over the edge towards healthier days.
Mike relieved me on Friday morning for a much needed break. And I did absolutely nothing but veg out. Usually when he relieves me I try to do all the stuff that I should be doing. But this time I was so fried and emotionally drained, I went to the movies, saw friends for a couple meals, walked around the new SM Place mall, and used a very old gift certificate at a spa for a facial. I took my car into the shop and brought some clothes for Ian on Saturday morning after picking up my car, but that was about the extent of responsible tasks. I came back very early Monday morning refreshed and ready to start another week with my sweet boy.
He was still off feeds when I arrived but when Dr. Pornchi came by later that morning he took him off of hi-flow and down to regular oxygen and said he could eat again! Hence the photo. We were thrilled!
So the plan is now to do the GI studies that they wanted to do to check that these things aren't adding to his pulmonary problems. They did the swallow study this morning. We haven't gotten the official results back but it sounded like they were pleased. Tomorrow there will be a Gastric Emptying Study done and Thursday an Acid Reflux Study. This is the one they really wanted the results for. They had put him on some meds for reflux so he needed to be off of them for 3 days before the study, which is why it can't be before Thursday.
Originally I was keen to get him home and bring him back to do these tests as an outpatient but Dr. P talked me into getting them done now. It really makes sense to do them now and it will be beneficial to have the results sooner rather than later. He'd have to stay the night for them anyway so I'd like to avoid that. I agreed to them with one stipulation, he has to be home before Saturday, his 1st birthday.
He said it would happen, of course if nothing else arises before then. Don't want to jinx him now ;-)
On another note, he woke up from his very short nap yesterday saying Da da da da. I was so bummed to miss taking a movie of it because it only happened once. But it's progress. He hasn't said Momma for a while either. If I remember correctly with Lila, her first words would come and go. I can wait. I have the movie to prove that he's got it!
