Overall he's a bit better today. Had some desatting and high heart rates this morning but we turned up his oxygen and got him back on track. We've already weaned him down to what he was on before the episode so we haven't really taken steps forward but we haven't gone backwards today. It's so much easier to handle this whole thing when he's in a better mood which he has been the last couple of days. That always indicates he's feeling better.
Except that nasty tooth that's trying to pop through his gums. His mouth is flowing with drool and his little gums are red and swollen. He just can't get enough of the pain... only when he's in the hospital does his teeth break through. Literally every one of his 5 teeth have broken through while admitted!
Dr. Rachelesky came by to look at him today. Added another preventative breathing treatment to his regime. While we are in there are 5 twice a day and 3 are given every 3 hours. I've got to get a better system going to make them quicker to give when we get home. As of now, some are 20 minutes and some are 10. If we have 5 we will not be doing much other than that.
I've never really added up the time we've been in but Dr. R did. He said he's been in the hospital for a total of 7 months in his almost 12 months of life. Crazy! 58% of his life has been here. No wonder he's behind with his gross motor skills. We just need a chance to stay home and progress. Maybe the summer will bring less sickness and he will shoot forward.
