Too many doctors.

Today was one full of even more doctors than usual. In the morning, we took Lila to her allergist to check on the persistent cough she's had off and on for much of her life. She said her nose looks allergic again and she gave us another round of allergy meds for her to start on. She said allergies are running strong with many people lately.

Lila had a good day though. Since I couldn't get in to see her little brother today because of my Pink Eye, she had me all to herself all day. After a family shared cereal breakfast, we made some cards in the morning while Daddy tried to get some work done. After her doctor visit, we went to lunch together and ate outside which she loves to do. Then back to the house for a nap. Daddy was in charge of the tuck in for that but I guess she didn't go for it. I was so exhausted after pumping again that I passed out for an hour, which felt terrific. Unfortunately Mike wasn't all that lucky. I guess she wasn't going for resting. He tried to lay down with her but she just kept fidgeting so he gave up and they were playing Candyland when I got up.

We all got ready for the next doctor appointment and made it just in time for her to pass out in the car. Daddy did the appointment carrying her asleep on his shoulder. The visit was with our general doctor to look at his ear. Turns out he has an ear infection. The doc also looked at my eyes to confirm the Pink Eye which, earlier in the day from over the phone he had prescribed drops so I could get them started early (since they thought it would take about 24 hours for the symptoms to go away so I could get back in to see Ian sooner)

What is up with this family? We're just a wreck!

Lila woke up just in time to get into the garage elevator. We decided to head to the hospital together. They had just showed me a child's play area on the same floor as the NICU. This was for patients as well as siblings of patients.

While Daddy went in to check on Ian, Lila and I headed to the play area. They were in-between hours so we headed down to the cafeteria for some dinner snacks and then back up when they opened again. She loved it! In fact, I had to go pump and she said she was fine hanging out there herself with the volunteers. I told them where I was just in case.

Mike had come in to the room to update me on Ian when we heard a knock on the door. We opened it to a group of volunteers with our little Lila who had had an accident and needed some new pants. Mike took her to the bathroom to change and I met them in the play room afterwards.

Her stuffed Minnie was getting the full Dr. Abercrombie treatment by the time I arrived, including bandages on her knees and a temp gauge strapped within (one of the volunteers pointed out this may be a cutting edge way to take a temp ;-) Mike went in to meet our night nurse we've only spoken to on the phone. Lila alerted me to the fact that Mommies were not allowed in the doctor area so I had to go wait in the "waiting room" on the other side of the room. She had the whole place to herself and two volunteers playing with her. She loved it!

We headed home and I worked on bath and tuck in while Mike picked up his and Lila's prescriptions. By the time she was down, we called in to check on Ian and both just about passed out after we hung up. It's amazing how the day takes a toll on us, even when we're not at the hospital much. I think we've just never been able to get our energy back and am not sure when we will.

Hopefully when our little guy comes home we'll all feel more complete. I'm sure the sleep patterns won't be much better but at least we'll all be home together.
