Well, he tolerated the MRI. It seemed they were gone for so long for the MRI. I kept calling to find out if they were back and they were gone over 2 1/2 hours. We're a bit nervous awaiting the results but we're excited that he's now off of Nitric, and will probably be off oxygen by tomorrow morning.
No more tube down his throat! It'll take him a while to get rid of his sore throat from having it in so long. Then they can begin to try feeding him by mouth. For now, they gave him his first milk directly into his tummy tube and he digested it fine, which is a good sign.
He's gotten so thin although they said they weighed him last night and he was 8 lbs. 13 oz. He sure doesn't look like it. His head looks so much bigger now that his body has thinned out. His little legs are super skinny as well. It's going to be good to have him get milk. I'm sure it'll help round him out.
Almost the whole time I was with him earlier today he was sleeping and I was there for over 5 hours. Of course the nurse said before I arrived he was wide awake and looking all around. It seemed the only time he wasn't sleeping is when they had to bug him and then he was frustrated. When they moved him to his left side and suctioned him, he was able to be consoled after a bit. Then she had me take his temp and change his diaper and, again, he was not a happy boy.
When I came back from getting a drink and they were in the middle of taking all of his Nitric paraphernalia out, he was super frustrated. I tried my darnedest to calm him and he just wasn't having it. The nurse had to give him something to calm him down cause he was having a fit and flailing his little arms and legs around. It too much for him to deal with.
Mike went by tonight after dropping his sister at the airport and said he looked fabulous. That was after the MRI so that made me feel better.
Looking forward to tomorrow. Will be exciting to see my baby boy with less tubes coming out of him :-)
