Seizure, in the ER
Well, I haven't had to do this for a while. But in case you saw the fire trucks and ambulance at our house, just thought I'd do an update. Ian had a seizure this morning. He came into the room and started falling backwards and fell on the ground. when I tried to see what was wrong with him and tried to get him up he could not stand. I got Mike into the room and we got him on the bed and he was clearly having a seizure. I did multiple recordings just what I recorded was about six minutes. But it probably lasted longer than that.
We were taking to UCLA via paramedic. by the time we got here he was in a much better state he was still shaking, kind of. And it seemed like he had to throw up. they got his vitals and very quickly after we arrived, they got an IV and bloodwork, whivh was very impressive. Then went in for a shunt series of x-rays. He threw up all over the place. I was not prepared with the bag because I left it in the other room. He then got a CT scan of his head. So we have all the studies and hopefully we'll get some answers.
On the one hand, I hope it's not his shunt. Because that would mean he would have to have surgery again. But on the other hand, I hope it is related to the issues with the shunt and maybe it doesn't mean a new lifetime of seizures. Since he was born, I've been worried about this. It will be so sad to have to add them to his already expansive list of conditions. I know things could always be worse but I just was hoping to not deal with them.
