FMT treatment has begun

We are well into Ian's FMT treatment. Today is Wednesday, so we've now had 3 transfers. Before the treatment on the first day, we spent time speaking with the doctor and nurses, all of whom are amazingly kind and informative. This morning, we just arrived at our scheduled time and went through the process.

It's relatively simple, although completely intrusive nonetheless. There is nothing pleasant about lying next to your child, while allowing someone to insert something into a place on his body where things shouldn't go, all the while explaining to him we are doing this to help his tummy and his brain, and that only these nurses can do this to him. Although, through all of the awkwardness, these ladies make it as comfortable as humanly possible.

Once in position, it literally takes not more than 2 minutes for the transfer to take place. Each time I see the syringe, I'm both nauseated and longingly hopeful. He then gets a minute tummy massage. After which they position the bed, head down while he's lying on his back, for 10 minutes. When the timer goes off, the bed is flattened and he rolls onto his right side. After another 10, he sits up. And then we are off to enjoy the day on the island.
