Amazing math!

I've been wracking my brain on how I can help Ian get math concepts. Sometimes he'd get it and other times completely not. We've been working on math for a couple years now. Starting with "doing more plus" with fruits and veggies in the kitchen. That's where he first got interested in math. He's been good at counting, which is the start of all math of course. He's been able to count by 2's, 3's, 5's, 10's, and I believe 7's, for a while now. I think the songs we've listened to over the years definitely helped with that.

Getting the concept of addition, and then on to place value, greater than/less than, equivalent addition equations, it just seems all too much. I've been very sad and frustrated feeling like there is no way he can keep up. When we get to that point, it means we have to switch to a modified curriculum instead of just accommodated. Which means, no diploma :(

That's a whole other conversation that goes on in my head often.

But this week has been AMAZING! Hoping it continues.
