Apraxia and perseveration

Just had a session with our fabulous AAC therapist. We discussed his iPod use in the classroom. Which the teachers and director are so excited about, but i believe uncertain how to completely implement. I'm really going to try to get our therapist to come to the program to observe and work with them. Hopefully it can happen soon.

We also discussed his perseveration. She feels it is very closely tied to his apraxia. He gets stuck in a verbal revolving door and is unable to break free from it. We try to redirect verbally. She feels he is more successful when it's done with the iPad. I'll have to test this out to see how I feel.

So before I was thinking and discussing that it might be tied to his autism spectrum disorder. Who knows. But I believe what it stems from affects how it's "treated" or approached.

Oh so many things to think about. This boy keeps my brain wheels spinning continuously that's for sure!
