Successful 1st fund-raiser for Step by Step

If you notice the time is odd on all of the posts this morning it's because I haven't really updated in a while and between the pain from oral surgery (which was last Thursday and I'm still having extreme pain!) and Ian's cough, I'm not sleeping much these last couple days so I figured I might as well finish all the blog posts I've started drafting the last month. I've been too busy to finish them but so I don't loose the basics of what went on, I'm just jotting down the start so I can come back to it later. I've done this all month. So I will try to finish them all in the next day or two. Or maybe just tonight ;-)

Thank you to those who sponsored us for the "Stroll on the Beach" to raise money for Step by Step, Ian's new school. They are a small school and have a new director so are just getting into the fund-raising arena even though they've been around for many years. And they need it! They don't charge much and have an amazing staff and support system in place for the children. Ian's doing amazing there! As I mentioned in my email to ask for sponsors,

"Ian and I both love this school! He's only been there a few weeks and we can already see the progress he's making. There's an extremely low ratio, usually between 1 teacher to 1-4 children. They have music every day, a large PT style playground and an Arena with age/size appropriate play structures, trikes, etc.

He's walking a ton, talks (in his own way) almost the whole time he's there and finally getting to the point where he's connecting with his friends in class. It's amazing to watch! And I do watch the whole time he's there. When I transitioned out of the classroom last Friday, I just moved on to the Parent Room where they have monitors showing every room in the school so I can follow his every move until they take their community/park walks. It's quite a remarkable place."

We had a fabulous time walking together with the director of the school. We had missed the rest of the group because we met at the wrong place and ended up playing at the new amazing park before heading out. But it didn't matter. Lila chatted the whole way and Ian enjoyed the ride getting out to play at all the parks along the way. What a wonderful way to raise money!

Since it was a long distance, Ian strolled and Lila scooted most the way.
The new fully accessible park in SM was amazing for these kids

Ian was so excited on the swing! This hardly ever happens.
Overall, he was such a happy guy to be at the parks on the beach. What a wonderful day!
