Here's a fabulous recent discovery... Ian seems to know his letters! With Lila I'd always done this game in the tub where we'd spell different words and as we were collecting the floating foam letters. I'd say, we're looking for an A, where's the A, and she'd hand it to me. I've done this many times with Ian and he's never really responded. But, Lila and I had started giving him 2 letters and asking him to pick one, which he'd do correctly probably about 70% of the time. Oddly enough Halloween night Mike happened to be home due to a missed flight and was giving Ian a bath while I was finishing trick-or-treating with Lila. Turns out he was playing the letter game and Ian was doing quite well. Since then, we've been doing it every night and tonight was amazing. Every single one I asked for he would find somewhere in the tub and hand to me! So awesome! We were alone because I had dropped Lila at an Indian Princess meeting. So we really had a good chunk of time to play and spell. He was blowing me away with how well he interacted with me.
We are very fortunate that one of his favorite things, next to food, is books. And another favorite is the alphabet, anytime, anywhere. On his mirror in his bedroom we have to recite it every day/night before nap/bed. And the most awesome Dr. Seuess ABC book which has been read probably about 300 times. Pretty much anywhere ABC's can be found, he enjoys it.
Truly a miracle, this boy. If you are reading this, please, keep the positive energy and prayers coming. Clearly the mix of it all is working :-)
