Well we did it! He had a slight runny nose and the beginnings of a cough but they took him anyway. The neurosurgery resident reported that the radiologist reported that the results look good. No extra build-up of fluid, no signs of chiari malformation, no tethered spine... and no signs of trauma from the drop on the head Mommy gave him just before the MRI.
He had just gotten his IV, which kuddos to the nurse, was gotten on the first try. Of course there were 4 people holding him, including me, to get it done but whatever it takes. They had me change him into a gown that was way too big for him and made of some kind of nylon. We were getting off the bed to head into the MRI room and he just kind of slipped out of my arms head first, right onto the floor! Very traumatic. But as they said, no better time or place to have such a thing happen. Not even a bump showing, thank goodness.
Now that he's had a night of hardly any sleep in the hospital, with the sirens, helicopters and staff coming in all night, it seems the cold might be beginning to take over. Hopefully once I get him home and allow him to rest in his own crib he'll be able to slow it down.
I really hope he can keep from dipping into the pulmonary abyss with this one. Have kept him on his 1 liter all day. He was just dipping lower than his norm without. Guess that's how it will be when he's sick, which is fine.
Dr. McComb should come by to see us on his rounds this morning and hopefully we will be out by noon or thereabouts. At which time we will head over to the optical shop in Arcadia to get glasses fitted. This came from an appt with Dr. Borchert last week. His eyes are stopped working together again. Such a bummer but there are worse things. Hopefully he will grow out of them.
There's a lot going on at home. Between being here, and all the other stresses running through my mind, I didn't sleep a wink :-( Hoping a couple melatonin and some breathing exercises can help me make up for it this evening.
