Not destined for speech therapy and other stuff

Oh my! This is a frustrating! Yet another speech therapy situation was just nixed! I keep connecting with these places that seem like the right thing for him and then it's either not the right fit, the therapist stops working in the biz, we are not geographically desirable, or, like today, we just found out the place can't fit us in after waiting 3 weeks to get started! We are not destined to have speech therapy at this point I guess. Back to the drawing board. I think we will go back to Pathways and work with Angie, whom we both liked, but whom still couldn't make the "Takes 2 To Talk" program happen that we began discussing in April! She is in SM and it's hard to fit into her schedule but I guess I'll give it another shot.

He is clearly communicating with me regularly now, just without words. And his babbling comes and goes and is now currently gone. I really feel he will talk but I guess it will take much longer if we don't get something going on a regular basis. I've been reading books about how to be his main therapist and I do as much as I can but I need a professional to supplement and help me with tips and such.

It's almost like he has a nervous habit of putting his hands in his mouth if he doesn't have a book or toy.

We are in the home stretch of our current intensive at NAPA. He's been fighting CME which is frustrating. Last week we had 2 hours of it and this week just 1 with 1 of regular PT. He's being 2 and trying to get his way. Chucking his toys and squirming out of the therapist hands, crying and trying to crawl away. Today was better than yesterday. I've just got to be on it with books and toys and singing. It's just a matter of finding what will distract him just at that moment enough to get him to forget he's working so hard, and it's so hot! He's not good in the heat.

He has completed his treadmill work each day. Today it was 16 minutes! We just have to sing the whole time but it seems to work. And an occasional toy in the hand is good too.

How the pointing began!

On the OT front, he's doing well. Still pointing every once in a while throughout the day. And he now LOVES the trampoline! When we are finished with therapy, I walk around him, bouncing him, singing Old McDonald. I'd hate to think of how many times we sing that song each day! But he loves it. And it's amazing for his vestibular and his core strength. Not to mention, it gives Mommy a bit of a workout as well ;-)

Baby pool time with his new buddy :-)

And lastly, we had a little buddy over today. Lila is visiting my family while we finish this last week of therapy along with doc appts. So I thought it a good time to have a friend for Ian over. I think I mentioned a little guy with PMG moved in around the corner. He's a sweetie! He came over to splash in the little pool and play a little. So cute to see them together. But clear that Ian needs to work on his sharing, which is so age appropriate! I'll take it. I love every milestone he hits ;-)
