They are concerned with his head growth and want to see what's going on. Dr. Mitchell, the neurologist, had mentioned that it would be great to see the progress in his brain but she wouldn't order an MRI unless there was a reason. Now there is one.
I'm also concerned a bit about an accident we had today. Ironically enough, we had just come from the Osteopath, Dr. Dolgin, where Ian's been having cranial osteopathy performed on him. Clumsy Mommy that I am, I had strapped him to me via my Ergo and was just heading out down the street to swap something at KCRW on the SMC campus. I stepped wrong on the curb near my car and fell right into the street. It totally freaked me out and he absolutely lost it. I had instinctively put my arm around him and hit with my elbow and my knee but watched in horror as his little head bounced off the pavement. The crazy thing is he didn't even end up with a bump from it. His little foot was scratched up but that was it.
But it was such an ordeal that people who saw (including the guy about to pull into the spot, whom, thank goodness, was paying attention) it happen and were trying to help me out of the street called the campus security, who called the campus police, who called the fire department and paramedics. I was freaked out that I could have damaged his already compromised head/brain. They felt it necessary to take us to the nearest hospital, which was SM, and have Ian checked out. After he calmed down he was fine. But I'm still a bit worried. Just one more reason to make sure we get the MRI.
Tomorrow we check his hearing and hopefully start speech therapy within the next few weeks. Lucky for me, one of my neighbors is a therapist and is contracted with the Regional Center we are followed by. From my rep there, sounds like she's one of the best as well. I'm very excited to see how that goes. No one is quite sure why his babbles and talking come and go, including her. Hopefully we can make progress with more exercises.
Wednesday we meet with Dr. Borchert, the new Neuro-Opthamologist and then get an EEG done to look for any kind of possible seizure activity, just as a precaution before they take him off of Keppra. Hopefully it will come out completely negative.
Off to bed to hopefully get some sleep tonight. Mike has offered to take the monitor and sleep upstairs and let me close my door and take an Ambien. After last night with Lila and I having insomnia for most of the night, and today's little situation, I need a good night's sleep!
