Good news first. Ian seems to be heading in a really good direction... finally! I hate to jinx it because the last time we were thinking this he took a bad turn but we are really hoping this time it will continue. He is down to 3 liters of hi-flow at 30% oxygen. Off all antibiotics and down to 3 breathing treatments AM & PM and one of them every four hours. He's still on steroids because of the fluid around his heart but cardiology doesn't seemed to be worried about it. Guess because he's not showing any other symptoms other than his irregular heartbeats.
Dr. I just came in to check on him and we discussed maybe going home on Sunday! But she also said to close the door and keep clear of many people because she's seeing a lot of the swine flu in the hospital.
Lila on the other hand is not doing so well, emotionally that is.
One of my wonderful nieces agreed to fly down from Santa Cruz yesterday morning to help out with Lila until tonight. Before heading to bed on Wednesday, I exhausted the possibility of all my babysitter options. I was trying to get some help so that Mike could get time to go to the office and get some work done. At 5am during my insomnia bout in the couple hours I possibly could have slept, I remembered that one of my nieces, Katie, might be off of work and I might be able to fly her down from Santa Cruz.
We made it happen she might and thank goodness because Mike woke up sick! He picked her up around 9am and dropped himself off at the Custom Hotel, where I had stayed the other day. Ridiculous that we are retreating into a hotel but we are in survival mode right now and it's just what we have to do.
Katie took Lila to the Aquarium for the day. They had a great time but after she awoke from a nap in the car on the way home, she started crying to see me. I guess she just lost it. Katie called me to talk to her and she just couldn't stop crying saying she wanted me home. I suggested they meet me at the hospital to go out to dinner. We all weren't so hungry so we ended up at Pinkberry. Lila couldn't stop hugging me in the car on the way. I talked to her about how she was feeling and decided I really needed to stay at the house that night.
I called the hospital to tell them and luckily the nurse on was the same one from the night before and I had already mentioned this might happen only I thought it would be Friday night because I couldn't find anyone for Lila to stay with. Luckily, my wonderful friend Renee agreed to have her over for a sleep-over for tonight which she is very excited about. I think it was the idea of being in our house with Ian and I at the hospital, Grandma home sick and Daddy away sick that was tripping her out.
We'll see if I get a call to from Renee tonight but I'm really thinking probably not. We'll then see what tomorrow brings.
What a great picture of him!!
