A better day, let's hope for more

Yesterday I needed a break. I was still very nauseous and exhausted from two nights with no rest. Mike cleared his schedule to switch with me.

Ian always enjoys time with Daddy. Sounds like he had a great day! Except for those darn teeth breaking through (I can now actually see the tip of another bottom one which probably broke through last night. His lung x-ray came back looking a little better. They did an echo on him and found he has fluid around his heart, which I guess can be caused by infection. They said it probably is contributing to his irregular heartbeats, which have become so "regular" but always kind of freak the nurses out. Cardiology keeps assuring us we shouldn't be worried so we are trying not to be, although the machine beeps constantly because of it.

The poor guy has a hernia as well. It comes out down in his private area and because of all of his crying during his stay here, it comes out quite regularly. They did an ultrasound on it today when Mike was here but we haven't heard the results yet.

Lila on the other hand has not been doing so well. As I mentioned before, she was sick when I was but was with Lona who mentioned she seemed fine all day. (I was so wasted yesterday I did something ridiculous... paid for a hotel room to sleep for a few hours. There's a place near our home that's nice enough and has really amazing deals so I just did it. If I didn't, I was going to loose it.) Lona and Lila were at the house but I just needed a real break. Quite literally the moment I walked in the door, Lila walked towards me with a funny look on her face and threw up all over the floor! Thank goodness I had that few hours sleep ;-)

She couldn't stop yapping after that so I assumed she was better but later that night she came down with a fever of 103. Motrin helped lower it and by this morning she was much better. But unfortunately, Lona (my Mother-in-law) who was hanging out with her Monday and Tuesday called this morning and said that she was up all night sick! I can't believe we got her sick too. I feel horrible!

Mike is to go out of town this weekend on biz and Lona was going to have Lila at her place so I could stay with Ian. Now I'm trying to work out an alternative which is quite tricky.

Since I got some rest last night, and in order for Mike to get some tonight, we switched again. He's going to try to work from home tomorrow because I can't find a sitter and don't want to have Lila with any of my friends with kids just in case she's still contagious.

When I arrived I received the biggest smiles from Ian! He's just the sweetest little guy. And his crib is now covered with pictures and artwork that Mike and Lila had put together Monday night. So lovely! Mike is such a wonderful Daddy :-)

First thing I noticed when his mood changed and he began to gnaw on his hand and cry again was another tooth is finally poking through. Then I went to change his diaper and he's got blood on his bum from diaper rash! This guy just can't get a break! The nurse said that when they were doing the ultrasound of his hernia he pooped and the tech didn't stop to change him. This is exactly why we need to be up here all the time. They are all trying to do a good job but our little guy needs an advocate.

Hopefully, everything will really begin to resolve itself in the next couple of days and we'll be able to get home. He just needs to be home and in his normal routine again... we all need that.
