Friday will be Ian's "graduation" from Step by Step where he has spent the last 3 years growing, learning, progressing. Amazing to be at this place right now. He's come so far! And SbyS was a wonderful place for him to thrive. Now onto WISH, where we are all excited for him to be heading to.
The fabulous Mr. B came by to observe Ian at school. Not the best day and time to do it but he got the jist of how he is in a group learning environment. Later this morning, I will bring Ian as a guest to the Para meeting at WISH. A little "Spotlight on Ian" will be presented and we will meet the group of supporters who will be working with him in the fall. We've got a few we've known since Lila began and I've been speaking to but have to see how all of the schedules pan out. So he will meet the group. And they will learn about him. His challenges and his strengths. How we help steer him from melt-downs. How we encourage him to engage with his peers. Should be an interesting meeting.
I've observed all 3 K classes and found that the most experienced of the three also tends to sing a lot of her requests. Being that Ian is so in tuned to music I feel this would be a good fit for him to have a better chance at staying engaged. She also teachers her class in his favorite room in the school. Where we've picked his sister up from art, dance or martial arts over the last few years. And where his favorite library is. Ahhh, my boy and his books :-)
