We had switched the party a bit, originally going to have it at the bowling alley but thank goodness switched it to our home. He was the belle of the ball there. Especially where a very special new friend is concerned. Pictures can not convey how remarkable it was to see Ian take Christian around to all of his friends and "introduce" him. He's never done anything like this before. Such a major social stepping stone.
Christian is quite surreal of a young man himself. He's a "mother's helper" and just begun his new job with us. Met him through the local Mom's Club FB group. He's the youngest of 3, two older sisters. I wasn't so sure about him when I spoke to his mom but thought I'd see how it would work. And what a surprise! He's amazing with Ian and Ian adores him. So sweet!
This was the first that he actually really realized the "Celebration" was for him and spoke of it for weeks before. So remarkable to see how far this remarkable boy has come. It's his team that lifts him up and moves him forward. Every one of them is so key to his success. Worth every penny! It's a life we are investing in and it's paying in high dividends.
Mommy was a bit of a wreck all day. Busting out in tears randomly. Luckily I got them all out before the afternoon party! The trauma he's been through in the last 6 years is more than most people I know go through in a lifetime to old age. And he continues to be full of love and smiles.
A major thing that set off the faucet of tears is being reminded of a sweet M-cm girl who wasn't as fortunate to make it though. Didn't realize she would have been 4 on the 19th. Just heart-breaking to imagine what that momma is going through. And how many times we came so close to loosing our joyful boy. Overwhelming to contemplate.
