Of course I was nervous and excited at the same time. With GH I would still get a little antsy when he didn't naturally wake up before 7ish but not be super worried if he felt OK. Now I will have to be even more diligent about his bedtime snack and checking him if he stays in bed any longer than normal. Which is ok. Just need more info on diet. I've looked it up and am trying to understand how the glucose system works. The doc had also asked his nurse to coordinate an appt with a Endo Dietician which we still haven't seen. I will follow up a 3rd time on that to get it to happen.
In the afternoon of the same day we saw the Orthopedist. What a surreal appt that was. He said his spine looked good! His numbers had gone from 17/19 in April to 23/24 in October to now 15/15! Whatever we have been doing must be working!
When moms like me get such news we have to think about all of the things we are doing to combat a specific issue. And although we wonder what it could be that's helping, just have to be happy and keep going with it all! For this one we have: focused on more prone and extension work in therapy, had his osteopath work on it and had his holistic dentist working on it via his mouth and palette expander. I've also been following work suggested by a friend we've seen who is a pediatric Chinese medicine doctor. Have been stimulating the area around his spine with a smooth stone and my fingers. Something is working!
The bummer about the day was his many X-rays. They did his lungs before both appts. Then the endo wanted his hand bone age X-ray. (Which showed him to only be just 5 instead of almost 6 showing he should be much taller than he is even with his growth spurts in the last 2 years.) And the back doc wanted another of his spine, which I didn't underage cause he just had an MRI but clearly he was double checking things I guess. Lots of coercion and iPad time ;)
