As we come closer to the date John transitions to preschool teacher, I was chatting with a friend about what I'm hoping for in Ian's new one-on-one. Thought it would be helpful to share it with you all.
I'm hoping for someone who has the ability to lovingly encourage Ian into interacting/socializing with his peers. Someone to bring him into focus on his present space when he's off in his Thomas world. Who can help him articulate words he can use verbally. And to know how to integrate his iPad for AAC when he there's a chance to broaden the conversation but his verbal ability is limiting that opportunity. To lovingly push him outside his comfort zone physically. And help integrate all of the work his private therapists are doing into his daily routine.
Of course I'm asking for the world. As always ;)
Thank you for helping the search,
Shari
