Enjoying an amusement park but a fall lands us in the ER for the most "typical" situation ever

We were at Knott's Berry Farm for a day off of school with our good friends & cousin Katie and had such a blast! Ian enjoyed many rides with the rest of us. Most often when it came time to get strapped in he'd fuss but once in and the ride was going he really seemed to enjoy the whole experience. Was such an amazing day!

Until a silly fall. Lila got down to his level to give him a hug and was squatting so not so balanced. I was watching & taking pics because it was so sweet. But when Ian leaned more into her, she fell backwards with him on top of her. They ended up kind of twisting sideways and he smacked his head right into a short stone planter/seat. Wasn't good. Bloody and lots of crying from them both. Luckily she got out with just a banged up knee but Ian's gash was enough to have the medics at the park suggest we go straight to the ER to get it stitched up.

And luckily, we were less than 10 miles from CHOC Children's Hospital Orange County. I took my friend's van with Ian and left the rest of them at the park. Overall, probably the best ER experience ever, other than the fact that Ian is totally onto them all and is stronger than ever while trying to squirm away. They got us in quickly, very nice with him, even when he was freaking out with the blood pressure cuff. The admissions woman went and got some bubbles to get him calmed down!

Once in, everyone was super nice. They gave me the option of staples or using his hair and glue. Of course I chose the later! Strange they can do that. So simple but I guess effective. Only bummer is he can't do his 2nd swimming intensive I had scheduled for this coming week. And we had to cancel last week because he was sick :( Obviously it wasn't mean to be. We'll have to wait until the spring when this amazing instructor starts up again. (I'll post a video of it later)

And the most amazing thing about the whole experience was when I was trying to constrain him while they were tying it up, a sweet girl came to our side with an iPad asking if he likes any shows! Perfect timing! She was able to get a Little Einstein's going and he calmed down so much that they were able to finish without the nurse even helping me hold him. She was from Child Life and was just amazing with him! Never had that happen at UCLA. (although oddly enough she did her internship on the ped floor there when we used to stay quite often)
