We broke our long streak of making it on our own at home. He was just working too hard to breathe and it was stressing me out. I knew there was something more than just a cold this time. He also had high fevers that were just being kept at bay with Advil. Wheezing and coughing way too much.
So we spent 13 hours in the ER on a gurney just a little wider than my backside. Trying to rest and calm down after each procedure. Two IV's. Both got on the first try but the first one stopped working after they drew the blood. Second was also got on the first try by the IV nurse. That's an amazing person to have working with us.
We were able to avoid the long wait to get into a room in the ER because his was a respritory issue and his oxygen needs were higher than baseline. Thank goodness. I walked in the room and just about walked out to go back home. So glad I didn't. Chest x-ray showed pneumonia and nasal swab presented with RSV. I can't believe he has it again. They didn't seem that freaked out about it but I remember UCLA wasn't either at first. Until it began to take over him. I'm so afraid that's going to happen again. I just don't feel this is going to be a quick stay. And not sure how we will all handle it. We will but it'll be tough.
