Signing airplane, belly, pushing trucks and trotting a horse.

Progress is a happenin' and I'm loving it!

It's been a crazy week already. Lila was offered a spot at a local Waldorf charter school so we had to make that decision. And she came down with a freaky quick flu that turned into pneumonia at the same time. Of course Ian has been on and off sick for weeks and hopefully doesn't have the same in his lungs. Happily it seems as if his sicknesses are not becoming too intense, which is amazing. Breathing treatments all day for both kids :-(

I finally spoke to Splash for Speech, the place we've been trying to get in for months. She had a temp spot which a friend was going to share with us while her son had open heart surgery. But she also had a couple other spots available during the time Ian was in school. So we are switching our days at UCLA to get the open spots. Of course we had to say a sad goodbye to our current speech therapist.

I've been looking at schools & programs for Ian as well. And having prep conversations for our upcoming IEP. Lot's of change happening. All the while Mike's biz is going through tremendous change, hopefully to finally do the big release of his new learning product. Which means, as it has been for years, non-stop work for him, every day, including weekends, and into the nights.

Back to the subject at hand... our sweet boy's progress. To the average person, these things would not make them jump for joy to experience. He just began to sign "airplane" a couple days ago. It's not perfect fingers but it's clear he's moving his hand to do the sign. Just amazing! He's so excited by it too.

We've been working forever on identifying body parts. He's done slapping his belly before but now when I say, where's your belly, he'll slap it! Huge! (both his belly and the finding of it ;-)

And many times during the day you'll hear him yelling/grunting to get my attention. And he'll be sitting there with his little yellow fire truck he got from Santa up in Aptos. He wants to play "push the truck" and he'll do it for quite a while. His push is not perfect but good enough to play. We're working on it.

And lastly, he'll take the plastic horse out of the barn and tap it on the ground. I know he loves me to trot it around him and land on his head. So one reason might be to get me to do this. But it might also be that he's playing "trot the horse" as well.

One last thing is his tricky way of getting his water out of his crib. I took a photo of it to illustrate. He's just figuring so much out. So fun to watch!

I often feel as if I'm barely keeping my head above water. But all is good for now so I take a deep breath and continue.
