3 steps taken and a phone up to his ear!

Yesterday in CME therapy Ian took 3 steps on his own! These were not just continuations of his steps through a box, they were honest to goodness steps. Where he stepped, steadied himself, and stepped again! It was beautiful to see! Today he had no interest at all in standing longer than to get through his work or stepping but that's ok. He is pretty much telling me he's done with this whole intensive thing ;-) Just one more day then normal schedule for 3 weeks and we begin another 2 week intensive. We've got to get it in before beginning at UCLA Early Intervention Program. When we begin there he will be there 3 days a week until he is 3 and we can't miss unless he's sick. I should have started before but I was always afraid of the germs. Hopefully he'll be able to handle all of this outside experience without taking sicknesses too hard. And the phone thing... after his first hour today I set him next to our new little friend Maddie, who also has M-cm and has therapy at NAPA (and who is absolutely adorable!) She was playing with her Mommy's phone so I gave Ian mine (before he grabbed hers). He actually put it up to his ear! I couldn't believe it! So cute :-) These little things that so many people take for granted blow me away. The other thing he did two weeks ago was quickly figure out how to work a completely new toy after being shown just once. It was during speech therapy and it was a tricky toy. He's amazing! Just a miracle, really. I guess ever child is a miracle. But this little guy has made it though more than I could in his first 2 1/2 years and still keeps amazing all of us. That's what these kids do. We keep pushing them and they keep delivering more than we could ever imagine. We are so fortunate to have such an angel :-)
