Look Mom, no hands

We were in Scottsdale for Ian's 2nd birthday, tagging along with Daddy on a biz trip again. While there, Lila, Ian and I swam in the very cool pool at the resort and played in their spraying water area. We checked out the amazing Kids Museum as well as the equally impressive Science Center. In general, all the schlepping of stuff and the long drive was worth it.

And in general, Ian is doing great! Still not walking on his own but just getting around like he might
as well be. As you can see by this pic, he's standing and slapping his hands on things which shows he's not using the object for stability. Yet, the only time I caught him actually standing on his own, when he realized it he sat right down. He'll get it I know. It's just a matter of time. We are patient with everything he does... because he keeps doing so much!
Truly amazing little boy.

The only thing that isn't happening is speech. His various words and
sound
s have come and gone and we are left with the consistent, Dadda-did babbling. Which always is repeated when said to him. And which always is said when he sees his Daddy or hears us say Daddy. This is all good. I'll take it! But I'm in the middle of a search for the best fit for him speech therapy wise. We were working with one woman who is an amazing person and really tried with him but I just think it wasn't the right fit. He's got really special needs here and I'm trying to figure out how to get to him with speech. We've seen a couple of therapists who practice the Hanen Method, which is a specific program called "Takes Two To Talk". But haven't been able to set up the whole program yet, just a couple session.

And honestly, what I'm looking for is the right fit in every way. I'm trying to find someone that connects with him, fits into his very busy current therapy schedule, and if it's possible, will be covered by insurance or Regional Center.

We are currently fronting Osteopath, Homeopath and Nutritionist. While I submit for reimbursements for O and H, it's such a pain and they don't reimburse much. Thank goodness we have means to pay these bills but it is not limitless. And it always makes me nervous booking more appointments just to consider the financial side of things.
