Ian is doing really well and I'm absolutely in love with him! He's the sweetest boy, generally really happy, just a love. He's progressing similarly to a "typical" baby if you just take a couple months off his age. Of course when you adjust his age for his early birth and take into account that he was pretty much in the hospital for the first 4 months of his life, we have to give him some leeway ;-) He's holding his head up on his own relatively well. He's not quite rolling over on his own, at least from his back to his tummy but he can go the other way as long as he can get his arm out of the way. When he's rolled onto his tummy, he holds his head up for a majority of the time although most of that time is spent trying to get over to his back again ;-)
He went in for his NICU follow-up this week and whipped through the Bayley testing. His scores were quite average except in lower extremity strength but I'm not super concerned about that. He's kicking and pushing with his legs all the time now, he just doesn't like to bear his own weight so much when you hold him in a stand. Although he does do it occasionally which is a good sign.
He's quite the conversationalist and so happy and interactive. I'm absolutely smitten with him as is his sister. You can just see the love taking over her when she hugs him. She always wants to be close to him and is so great at making him laugh. Although that's pretty easy to do with this little guy. He's so happy in general! He's got the biggest smile and just lights up the room when he laughs.
We made small improvements on adjusting his meds, oxygen and breathing treatments only to have him get sick with a cold and had to bump them up again. He was sick on our vacation which was such a bummer.
On the house note, they STILL are not done. Yes, they began the job just after Labor Day, almost 8 weeks now. It's been trying to say the least. We thought it would take 3 weeks, not quite. They ran into a few snaffoo's, of course, and then there's been a technicality with the city for the last 3 weeks that put it on hold. We went away for our week vacation only to come back to nothing having been done when they were supposed to finish in one day after we left.
While Mike was away for another week I even took the kids to stay in my Mother-in-law's small mobile home anticipating the work continuing and us needing to be out. Bottom line is they should be done with the work tomorrow and clean-up on Monday, or so that's what the last word has been. I had mold/air testing and it came out fine which is the only reason I came back. I've been running HEPA filters throughout the house to keep the dust to a minimum.
Thanks so much for posting an update on the Abercrombie family! We love you all!
