Then my husband (Mike) and daughter (Lila) come to visit after the plumber leaves (luckily he was able to fix it for a somewhat reasonable price) and Lila has a stuffy nose!!! The one thing I've been telling every friend (with kids) that wants to help us out is PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR KIDS NEAR MINE IF THEY EVEN HAVE A SNIFFLE... IT WILL BE DETRIMENTAL IF LILA GETS SICK AGAIN.
My whole orchestrated schedule is dependent on her being healthy and able to attend her short hours of preschool on Tues & Thurs AND hanging out with our friend/neighbor's little boy while he's hanging out with our other neighbor (she's studying to be a teacher and doing nanny & teaching work on the side). Also, Lila really gets sick and she can't come to visit me. Of course then we could end up with Grandma, Daddy & babysitters sick! I just can't believe it!
To top it off, there's my Father-in-law who is still in the hospital being fed through a feeding tube. In his advanced directive, it explicitly says "should not be fed through a feeding tube". Ok, so how do we look at this. He's been in pretty bad condition for a couple of weeks. As the family was trying to make THE decision, we get a hold of the doctor helping him and he says he's doing better. He went from not even acknowledging visitors to now putting a few words together and grabbing a hand now and again. What a mind warp!
Is this all really happening while I'm held up, drugged out in my bed here at the hospital? What did I do to ask for this? I'm just having a hard time taking it all in but, I guess it's what life is throwing at us right now. I guess my only choice is to look for a bigger bat and slide on up to the plate ;-)
